What is email deliverability?

Email deliverability is whether your emails actually reach people's inboxes, instead of the spam folder or nowhere at all.

Deliverability isn't about how good your email is. It's about how much email providers like Gmail and Outlook trust the way you send it.

Why emails land in spam

Email providers protect their users from unwanted email, so they judge every sender. The main things they look at:

Your reputation. How people have reacted to your past emails: replies and opens are good signs; bounces and spam complaints are bad ones.
Your setup. Whether your emails can be verified as really coming from you (the technical paperwork behind SPF, DKIM and DMARC).
Your sending pattern. Sudden jumps in volume look suspicious. Steady, natural activity looks healthy.

How to recover a damaged reputation

Reputation is rebuilt gradually. That usually means fixing the setup, cleaning your list of addresses that bounce or never engage, and ramping up sending slowly so providers see healthy activity again. That gradual ramp-up is called warm-up.
